The base host was the 520th Operational Training Unit, Air Technical Service Command, 16th Bombardment Operational Training Wing and 17th Operational Training Wing

454th Bombardment Group (H) (In Training) to 15th Air Force in Italy where they flew bombing missions in the B-24
486th Bombardment Group (H) (In Training) to 8th Air Force in England where they flew bombing missions in the B-24
465th Bombardment Group (H) (In Training) to the 15th Air Force in Italy where they flew bombing missions in the B-24
493rd Bombardment Group (H) (In Training) to the 8th Air Force in England where they flew bombing missions in the B-17
9th Bombardment Group (VH) (In Training) to 20th Air Force in Tinian with B-29 bombers
331st Bombardment Group (VH) (In Training) to 20th Air Force in Guam with B-29 bombers
448th Bombardment Group (VH) transferred the Army Air Force in 1945 and subsequently trained B-29 Crews as part of the Strategic Air Command.
REUNION - 2007
The Annual Reunion of McCook Army Air Base was held September 28, 29, and 30(Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The event was open to all persons having an interest in the base and its history.
The base site is located about 10 miles north of McCook, Nebraska on Highway 83, turning off at the electric transformers.
